Helping Bucks COunty residents in need

In Bucks County alone, as of April 2023, approximately 350 people are homeless, 10,095 children have been placed in foster care, and 1 in 10 adults are struggling with depression. But they are not alone anymore, thanks to the work that is being done by Family Service of Bucks County.

Local business owner, Karen Thompson, founder of Lace Silhouettes Lingerie, has long been a supporter of the work being done at Family Service of Bucks County and wanted to show her continuous appreciation through a $1,000 donation to their cause. With her support, Family Service can continue its work tackling critical needs, such as homelessness and hunger in the community.

Family Service of Bucks County is motivated by one simple mission: “We listen, care, and help. Every day.” They have been operating by this mission since their chapter’s birth in 1953. They offer a variety of programs to the Bucks County community, including, but not limited to, senior services, reducing substance abuse, mental health assistance, the operation of homeless shelter, and assisting the local youth. Through these programs, which have been used by over 40,000 people yearly, they aim to foster a community in Bucks County where “anyone can achieve their full potential”.

Karen Thompson and her team have been committed to making a difference in the community for over 38 years. When asked what drives her continuous philanthropic endeavors, she said this: “I always believe in helping families in our community. The people who make up the amazing community of Bucks County are truly the keystone to what makes this such a great area. That is why it is so important to help our neighbors when they need it, and I am always looking for organizations like Family Service to lend my help to, so they can continue their great work.”
