International women’s month
Paving the way
International Women’s Month is a time for reflection and celebration. Women have been able to accomplish so much, and this month is truly about remembering those who have paved the way for future generations and celebrating all the fears women continue to conquer every day.
Local business owner, Karen Thompon, know first-hand the perseverance needed to construct and run a business as a woman and has been leading the way since 1988. What started as a small shop called Lace Silhouettes Lingerie, which was dedicated to uplifting women through beautiful, personal pieces, has turned into a successful multi-store brand in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland.
In celebration of this momentous month, Thompson and her team all wore white and denim on March 10th in celebration of International Women’s Month and the long history of women paving the way. In addition to this celebration, the company donated $1,000 to the Salvation Army Female Emergency Fund (SAFES), a sector of the Salvation Army that is dedicated to supporting women who are survivors of domestic violence, homelessness, and those at risk of homelessness.
This month is especially important to women-owned businesses like Lace Silhouettes Lingerie because it is not only a time for them to reflect on their own journey bur uplift other women who need support. Reflecting back, Thompson says, “I am grateful for what my team and I have accomplished thus far and look forward to the future of not only our business but the future of women all over.”
For over 38 years, Thompson and her team have been committed to making a difference in the community. It has been their mission to uplift others through philanthropic donations and events. Through donations like this, Thompson and her team hope to inspire other women to take a chance on themselves and chase their dreams. Thompson hopes that her story and support can help others take that leap toward greatness and pave a successful future for themselves and others.
